Under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco has established itself as a “pillar of stability, moderation, and forward-looking leadership”, underlined in Washington Rudolph Atallah, Deputy Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the U.S. National Security Council (NSC).
“Morocco has continued to strengthen its role as a pillar of stability, moderation, and forward-looking leadership in a very complex region. His Majesty’s vision has deepened partnership between Morocco and the United States across security, economic development, and regional cooperation”, Atallah affirmed before an audience of Congressmen, political dignitaries and diplomats gathered Tuesday evening at the U.S. Congress to celebrate the historical relations and strategic partnership between Rabat and Washington.
After emphasizing that the Kingdom is a reliable partner, the White House official noted that “when challenges emerge, Morocco’s always been very reliable and shows up quietly, professionally, consistently”. This is not an “alliance of convenience”, but one built on trust and shared responsibility, he said.
“As someone who spent a lifetime working on security and partnership, I can truly say with confidence that Morocco is not only one of America’s oldest and best allies, it’s the most dependable”, he further affirmed. “Today, we honor our relationship built on over centuries, and we affirm our commitment to carrying it forward together”.
During this gala event, the U.S. Congress celebrated the strategic partnership between the Kingdom and the United States of America, which is rooted in the oldest and deepest diplomatic relationship Washington maintains with any of its partners worldwide.
Part of the “Project Legacy Morocco” initiative, this event brought together more than 200 guests, including political dignitaries, senators, congressmen, high-ranking military officials, diplomats, and a broad representation of the Moroccan community in the United States.
This high-level attendance testifies to the unanimous support the Kingdom of Morocco enjoys among American decision-makers, across all political affiliations, and to the exceptional partnership between Rabat and Washington, which stands as a successful model of effective relations structured around a clear vision and unwavering commitment.
In their remarks on this occasion, several Republican and Democratic senators and congressmen praised the centuries-old friendship and special relationship between the United States and Morocco, which originated in the Kingdom’s historic decision in 1777 to become the first nation to recognize the independence of the young American Republic.
