Upper House Speaker Meets with Asian-Pacific Ambassadors Accredited to Morocco

Speaker of the House of Advisors Mohamed Ould Errachid met on Monday in Rabat with the group of ambassadors from Asia-Pacific countries accredited to Morocco.

In a press release, the House of Councillors said that the meeting was an opportunity for a rich exchange of views on means to strengthen parliamentary cooperation between the House and counterparts in Asia-Pacific countries, open up new prospects for partnership and exchange of expertise and legislative experience in the service of common interests and South-South parliamentary dialogue.

On this occasion, Ould Errachid emphasized that Morocco, under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, has opted for openness to the Asia-Pacific region as a strategic choice, reflecting the diversity of its international partnerships and its active commitment to South-South cooperation, as well as its commitment to values of solidarity, peace and shared growth, according to the same source.

He also spoke of strengthening parliamentary cooperation with countries in the Asia-Pacific region, both bilaterally and multilaterally, praising these countries’ rich institutional experience in areas of development, innovation, economic cooperation, social justice, clean energy and the fight against climate change.

Ould Errachid further expressed the House’s willingness to reinforce communication channels, exchange parliamentary visits, and activate coordination mechanisms on issues of common interest, affirming that parliamentary diplomacy is an essential lever for bridging peoples and grounding dialogue between civilizations and cultures.

For their part, ambassadors of the Asia-Pacific countries expressed their appreciation for Morocco’s development achievements and the credibility and dynamism of its elected institutions, while expressing willingness to bolster cooperation and consultation with the House of Councillors and explore avenues for partnership in areas of green economy, education, innovation and sustainable development.

In addition to the group’s dean Saulekul Sailaukyzy, Ambassador of Kazakhstan, the meeting was attended by ambassadors of the Philippines, Azerbaijan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Australia, India, Japan, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Indonesia.
