The draw for the first-ever FIFA Women’s Futsal World Cup took place on Monday in Manila, Philippines, setting the stage for a historic tournament.
Morocco’s national women’s futsal team, crowned African champions earlier this year, has officially learned its opponents.
The Atlas Lionesses have been placed in Group A, alongside host nation Philippines, Argentina, and Poland.
The group is considered one of the most competitive in the tournament, promising a challenging campaign for the Moroccan squad.
The inaugural edition will run from November 21 to December 7, with the opening match expected to feature the host nation Philippines against Morocco, a fixture that could set the tone for Group A.
Full group draw
Group A: Philippines, Poland, Morocco, Argentina
Group B: Spain, Thailand, Colombia, Canada
Group C: Portugal, Tanzania, Japan, New Zealand
Group D: Brazil, Iran, Italy, Panama
As reigning champions of Africa, Morocco enters the competition with momentum, but with upcoming face-offs against powerhouses like Argentina and the added challenge of playing against the host nation, the road ahead is far from easy.
The 2025 tournament not only marks the first global stage for women’s futsal but also signals a huge step forward in promoting women’s participation in the sport worldwide.
