Barcelona player Raphinha has been named La Liga player of the season, while his teammate Lamine Yamal gets the best youth player of the year.
The duo were key players in helping Barcelona win the domestic treble: La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Supercopa.
The 28-year-old netted 34 goals and 25 assists in all competitions, including 18 goals and 9 assists in 36 La Liga games.
The Brazilian winger also shone in the Champions League – scoring 13 goals and providing 8 assists. His 22 goal contributions in the Champions League matched Cristiano Ronaldo’s record from the 2013-14 season.
The Catalan club was looking for a way to offload Raphinha, but instead, new coach Hansi Flick named him captain and offered him a contract extension until July 2028.
“The truth is that, for me, it changed pretty much everything. As I’ve said before in interviews, I was leaving the club before the season even started. The coach was super important in changing my mind and convincing me to stay,” Raphinha said in a press conference after the Celta Vigo game.
Yamal, still only 17, confirmed his status as one of the world’s top talents this season, after scoring 18 goals and 21 assists in 55 games this season, including 9 goals and 13 assists in La Liga, along with five in the Champions League.
Hansi Flick has also been named La Liga’s Best Coach of the Season after leading Barcelona to their third domestic treble in their history, making the Catalan club hold the record for the most trebles in Spain
Hansi Flick is the only coach to win the sextuple with Bayern Munich, following Pep Guardiola’s historic triumph with Barcelona in 2009.
