Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has issued a weather alert, forecasting significant rain showers and snowfall in several regions of the Kingdom on Friday and Saturday.
According to the DGM’s bulletin, rainfall totaling 30 to 50 mm (1.2 to 2 inches) is expected between Friday at 3:00 p.m. and Saturday at 3:00 p.m. across the mountainous areas of Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Azilal, and Taroudant. These regions have been placed under an orange-level alert, signaling potential risks due to heavy precipitation.
In addition to the rain, strong wind gusts ranging from 75 to 90 kmph (47 to 56 mph) are predicted for Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the provinces of Chichaoua, Essaouira, Boulemane, Taourirt, and Figuig.
The mountainous areas above 1,500 meters (4,920 feet) in the provinces of Midelt, Azilal, Al Haouz, and Ouarzazate are likely to experience a mix of heavy rainfall and snow from Friday at 11:00 a.m. to Saturday at 11:00 p.m.
