The National Human Rights Council (CNDH) and the Human Rights and Civil Society Department of the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) signed, on Friday in Rabat, a cooperation protocol focused on capacity building and the exchange of expertise in the field of human rights.

The protocol was signed by the President of the CNDH, Amina Bouayach, and the member of the Executive Committee of the PLO and head of the Human Rights and Civil Society Department, Ahmad Al-Tamimi, at the conclusion of a training session held for the Palestinian delegation. The protocol aims to support the exchange of experiences and best practices, and to strengthen the capacities of relevant stakeholders in the field of human rights.

It also seeks to enhance mechanisms for cooperation and consultation between the two parties, and to consolidate bilateral dialogue on human rights issues.

On this occasion, Bouayach emphasized that this training session is part of a program to support the capacities of the Palestinian delegation in the field of human rights. She noted that it covered international humanitarian law, international human rights law, related treaty mechanisms and international conventions, as well as techniques for documenting and advocating against human rights violations.

The CNDH President also stated that this cooperation protocol, which aims to reinforce efforts in training and capacity building, opens up new prospects for partnership, particularly in training Palestinian trainers in the areas of human rights documentation, international humanitarian law, and international human rights law.

For his part, the Undersecretary of the Human Rights and Civil Society Department at the PLO, Qassem Aouad, affirmed that this initiative is a new illustration of the Kingdom’s unwavering support, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, for the Palestinian cause. He noted that this training session reflects effective and institutional solidarity with Palestine.

He welcomed, in this regard, the success and proper organization of the session, which was marked by a rich training program and culminated in the signing of a cooperation protocol between the CNDH and the PLO’s Human Rights and Civil Society Department.
