On the occasion of the Independence Manifesto Day, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, has kindly granted His pardon to 1,386 individuals sentenced in the Kingdom’s courts, the ministry of Justice announced in a statement.
Here follows the full statement :
“On the occasion of the commemoration of the Independence Manifesto Day for the year 1447 H-2026 G, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God perpetuate His glory, has kindly granted His pardon to a number of individuals convicted by various courts across the Kingdom. These individuals total 1,371 and are distributed as follows:
* The detained beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon are 1,157:
– 23 prisoners benefited from the pardon over their remaining prison sentences.
– 1,133 prisoners had their prison terms reduced.
– 1 prisoner’s life sentence commuted to limited prison terms.
* The free beneficiaries of the Royal Pardon are 214 :
– 69 prisoners benefited from pardon over their imprisonment term or their remaining prison sentences.
– 9 prisoners benefited from pardon over their imprisonment terms while their fines were maintained.
– 124 prisoners had their fines annulled.
– 11 prisoners benefited from pardon over their prison terms and fines.
– 1 prisoner benefited from pardon over fine and remaining prison sentence.
On this glorious occasion, His Majesty the King, may God preserve Him, has kindly granted His pardon to inmates convicted in cases of extremism and terrorism, who received Royal Approval after formally expressing their commitment to the constants and sacred values of the Nation and its institutions, revising their ideological orientations, and renouncing extremism and terrorism. They number 15 individuals, distributed as follows:
– 9 inmates benefited from the pardon over their remaining prison sentences.
– 6 inmates had their prison terms reduced.
May God preserve His Majesty the King, source of clemency and mercy, perpetuate His glory, and safeguard His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan as well as all members of the Royal Family.”
