Morocco has been ranked Africa’s number one most impactful country brand for 2025, according to a report released by Rebrand Africa. The country’s performance highlights a year marked by tourism records, global sporting achievements, and a growing international profile.

Morocco welcomed a historic 19.8 million visitors in 2025, surpassing government targets and marking a 14% increase compared with 2024. Tourism receipts reached 124 billion dirhams in the first eleven months, reflecting both higher visitor numbers and increased economic value.

Authorities attribute this success to diversified tourism offerings, enhanced service quality, and expanded international air connectivity, consolidating Morocco’s position as Africa’s most visited destination.

Morocco also showcased its organizational and infrastructural capacity during AFCON 2025, hosted across six cities: Rabat, Casablanca, Tangier, Marrakech, Agadir, and Fès. The tournament served as a rehearsal for Morocco’s co-hosting of the 2030 FIFA World Cup, highlighting upgraded venues, improved intercity transport, and robust security measures. Officials reported over 1.25 million tickets sold and a $55 million box office, alongside a 90% increase in commercial revenues for the Confederation of African Football compared to the previous edition.

Strengthening economic influence

Morocco’s corporate sector also contributed to the North African country’s international visibility. OCP Group reinforced the country’s role in global food security, while Attijariwafa Bank expanded financial influence across Africa with operations in 27 countries.

Tanger Med maintained its status as a major trade hub, handling over 11 million TEUs in 2025. In telecoms, Maroc Telecom reached 81 million subscribers through its Moov Africa operations, and Royal Air Maroc strengthened Casablanca’s role as a continental aviation hub.

Cultural and sporting excellence

Moroccan footballer Achraf Hakimi capped a stellar year by helping Paris Saint-Germain secure its first UEFA Champions League title and earning the CAF African Player of the Year 2025 award. His achievements amplified Morocco’s soft power, illustrating the Morocco’s ability to produce world-class talent on the global stage.

The Rebrand Africa 2025 report placed Morocco at the top of its ranking of the continent’s most impactful country brands, ahead of Egypt, South Africa, Nigeria, and Benin.

Morocco’s example demonstrates how strategic investment in infrastructure, events, and human capital can translate into both economic returns and lasting global reputation, positioning the country as a leading reference for African soft power and nation branding.
