On June 14, 2026, a demonstration organized on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Geneva—which brought together anti-globalization organizations, trade unions, and various activist movements from several countries—escalated into widespread rioting.

This occurred after hooded and violent individuals joined the peaceful demonstrators, triggering acts of vandalism and clashes with law enforcement.

As the afternoon progressed, these same perpetrators erected several barricades using street furniture and other materials gathered from public roads. Some of these barricades were set on fire, causing significant smoke and prompting the intervention of anti-riot units. Geneva police then deployed tear gas and water cannons to disperse the groups involved in the violence.

In this tense context, the presence of flags and emblems associated with the Polisario Front was noted near the main flashpoints, particularly around a burning barricade that became one of the most widely shared images of the demonstration. Photographs and videos circulated on social media indeed show several participants sporting these symbols within the gathering.

The presence of activists affiliated with the Polisario has sparked numerous reactions, especially since this is not the first time the separatist front has been implicated in violent actions on the sidelines of international events organized in Geneva.
Above all, this incident confirms once again the terrorist drift of the Polisario Front, which has been the subject of international debate for years—with one key difference: while this drift was previously reported primarily in southern Algeria, where the front operates against a backdrop of connections with terrorist groups in the Sahel, the Polisario’s threat and actions are now spreading into European capitals.
