Real Betis have stepped up their pursuit of Moroccan left-back Anass Salah-Eddine, with the Spanish club now in advanced talks with AS Roma over a summer transfer, according to an exclusive report by Africafoot.
The report says negotiations between Betis and Roma are progressing well as the Andalusian club looks to strengthen its left side before the start of the 2026-27 season. Betis reportedly considers the 23-year-old Moroccan international one of its priority targets this summer.
Salah-Eddine recently returned to Roma after completing a loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, but he may not stay in the Italian capital for long. Africafoot previously reported that Roma would be open to selling the defender if they received a suitable offer.
The Moroccan enjoyed an impressive season with PSV despite arriving late in the summer transfer window. He gradually earned the trust of head coach Peter Bosz, making 25 appearances across all competitions and playing 1,630 minutes. He also registered one assist and helped PSV lift the Eredivisie title.
His performances extended beyond domestic football. Salah-Eddine featured in 17 league matches and made seven UEFA Champions League appearances, attracting interest from clubs across Europe’s top leagues.
According to the report, Betis values the defender’s pace, defensive discipline, and ability to support attacks from the left flank. The club sees him as a player capable of making an immediate impact while also offering long-term potential.
Although no final agreement has been reached, discussions between Betis and Roma are said to be moving in a positive direction as both clubs work toward completing the deal.
If the transfer goes through, Salah-Eddine would begin a new chapter in La Liga after spells in Serie A and the Eredivisie.
