Morocco’s national football team players expressed, on Saturday in Houston, their heartfelt thanks, profound gratitude and highest appreciation to His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, for the unwavering efforts the Sovereign continues to make to promote the development of Moroccan football.

Speaking to the press after the Atlas Lions secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 3-0 victory over Canada, the Moroccan internationals unanimously stressed that the Kingdom’s successes on the continental and international stages are the result of the far-sighted Royal Vision, built on investment in youth, player development and world-class sports infrastructure, including the Mohammed VI Football Academy.

In this regard, Azzedine Ounahi, a graduate of the Mohammed VI Football Academy and the Man of the Match against Canada, said the Atlas Lions’ performances are the outcome of a long-term project launched under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

He noted that the Royal Vision has enabled the development of a generation of players capable of competing at the highest international level.

For his part, Ayyoub Bouaddi said the remarkable progress of Moroccan football stems from a visionary strategy pursued under the Sovereign’s leadership, placing young talent at the heart of the national sporting project.

Bouaddi also highlighted HM the King’s unwavering support for Moroccan players in their pursuit of excellence.

For his part, Brahim Diaz paid tribute to His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s sustained efforts to develop national football, saying the rise of Moroccan football reflects an ambitious Royal Vision based on promoting national talent, delivering high-quality training and placing confidence in younger generations.

Through these statements, the Moroccan internationals underscored a shared conviction that the historic achievements of Moroccan football are the result of a proactive sports policy driven by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, making youth, training and excellence the cornerstones of a Moroccan sporting model that is now recognized internationally.
