On High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR), may God assist Him, Lieutenant General Mohammed Berrid, FAR Inspector General and Commander of South Zone, led a high-level delegation on a working visit Monday to the headquarters of the U.S. Africa Command (US AFRICOM) in Stuttgart, Germany.
After reviewing the various aspects of bilateral cooperation, the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces and General Dagvin Anderson, Commander of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) signed a memorandum of understanding between the Royal Armed Forces and their U.S. counterparts on the establishment of a Joint Multidomain Training and Experimentation Center in Morocco for Africa, according to a statement from the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces.
The establishment of this center further strengthens the Kingdom of Morocco’s leadership in the field of security and will enhance the operational readiness and joint interoperability of the Royal Armed Forces and their U.S. counterparts, the statement added, noting that this new center of excellence will also serve as a leading training and experimentation hub for African partner countries, while fostering defense innovation to address common threats and ensure regional stability.
The memorandum of understanding falls within the framework of the 2026-2036 Defense Cooperation Roadmap, signed in Washington on April 16, 2026, by the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America. It reaffirms the continuity of the historic ties between the armed forces of the two countries, built on mutual trust and a shared commitment to a strategic partnership aimed at addressing common threats, the statement concluded.
