Belgian PM Arrives in Morocco to Co-chair Bilateral High Joint Commission

Belgian Prime Minister Alexander De Croo arrived in Rabat on Sunday evening for a visit to the Kingdom, during which he will co-chair the Moroccan-Belgian High Joint Commission with the Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch.

Upon his arrival at Rabat-Salé airport leading a large government and business delegation, De Croo was greeted by Minister of Justice, Abdellatif Ouahbi.

After reviewing a detachment from the Royal Air Force’s First Air Base (1st BAFRA) that made the honors, the Belgian Prime Minister was greeted by Governor of Salé, Omar Touimi, Mayor of Salé, Omar Sentissi, Moroccan Ambassador to Belgium, Mohamed Ameur, and Belgian Ambassador in Rabat, Véronique Petit.

During his visit, the Belgian Prime Minister will hold talks with the Head of Government. Ministers accompanying De Croo will also hold working sessions with their Moroccan counterparts, focusing on subjects of common interest and ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation.

The visit will be marked by the signing of several cooperation agreements and conventions between the two countries in various fields.

The Belgian Prime Minister is accompanied on this visit by a delegation including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Paul Van Tigchelt, Minister of the Interior, Annelies Verlinden, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Hadja Lahbib, Secretary of State for Asylum and Migration, Nicole De Moor, and president of the Steering Committee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Theodora Gentzis.

He is also accompanied by Director General of the Foreigners’ Office, Freddy Roosemont, Commissioner General of the Federal Police, Eric Snoeck, and a large delegation of businessmen who will be taking part in the Business Forum scheduled for Tuesday in Casablanca.
