Moroccan police arrested a wanted French national of Arab origin, aged 42, on Monday evening in Marrakech.
The police carried out the arrest in coordination with the General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).
According to security sources, the man was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by French judicial authorities.
Checks through Interpol’s database confirmed that he was wanted internationally under a red notice requested by France’s National Central Bureau in Paris.
He is suspected of involvement in international drug and psychotropic substance trafficking.
The suspect has been placed in police custody under the supervision of the public prosecutor’s office. Morocco’s National Central Bureau, which represents Interpol in Rabat, has been tasked with informing its counterpart in France of the arrest as part of the extradition procedure.
Officials noted that the arrest reflects Morocco’s commitment to international security cooperation, particularly in tracking and detaining individuals wanted worldwide for transnational crimes.
