A new initiative to support Moroccan startups in the gaming industry has officially launched in Rabat.

The “Video Game Incubator” program, which kicked off on Monday, seeks to nurture nine startup ventures in the video game industry.

The event was attended by Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Morocco’s Minister of Youth, as well as a delegation from the French Embassy and key players in the gaming industry.

This program’s chief goal is to assist Moroccan entrepreneurs in consolidating their businesses, developing their skills further, and securing long-term viability.

The program also targets the establishment of stronger ties among Moroccan game development companies and top global industry companies with the ambition of making Morocco a major sector in the gaming world.

Over the course of five months, the incubator will provide a comprehensive training program on major topics such as video game pre-production, brand and communication strategy, business management, production oversight, and commercial and financial planning.

In addition to that, participants will benefit from hearing about the experiences of international gaming champions and exposure to prospective partners and investors.

Minister Bensaid added that the program is part of a broader initiative following the signing of an agreement between Morocco and France last October.

With the support of both King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron, the agreement aims to bolster the cultural and creative industries.

As the gaming industry becomes an increasingly influential force worldwide, Bensaid expressed hope that Moroccan companies would rise to become global leaders in this field.

He went on to say that the incubator would equip Moroccan startups with the tools they need to succeed in international markets and thus expand Morocco’s own gaming ecosystem.

Agnès Humruzian, Cultural Cooperation Advisor at the French Embassy in Morocco, described the collaboration as a cornerstone of Franco-Moroccan cultural cooperation. She also noted the potential of gaming as a sector that provides jobs and opportunities for youth, pointing to the promising prospects of deeper cooperation between the two countries.

Level Link Partners’ (LLP) founder Julien Villedieu stated that the “Video Game Incubator” was created by video game professionals to help local start-ups compete globally.

He believes that the program is a crucial milestone in establishing an organized and competitive video game market in Morocco. The participating companies will not only refine their skills but will also be connected to the global gaming community, offering them opportunities for growth and expansion.

Morocco takes a major step to become a serious player in the ever-growing worldwide gaming market with this trailblazing program.
