Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor for Africa to the President of the United States, reaffirmed, on Friday, Washington’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara and the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as “the only basis for a just and lasting resolution” to the regional conflict.
In a message published on the X platform following a meeting in New York with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, the American Advisor said that he discussed during the meeting the efforts to accelerate a political process for a definitive resolution to the artificial conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.
Boulos also pointed out that they also discussed the means of strengthening the “strategic partnership” and “alliance” between Rabat and Washington, as U.S. firms “pursue opportunities throughout all of Morocco,” including the Sahara.
The Senior Advisor to President Trump also welcomed the strong partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America.
In the wake of the United States’ recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara, the U.S. government announced this week that it is encouraging American investment in the Kingdom’s Southern Provinces.
“The United States has recognized Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, and as part of the Trump administration’s global initiatives to promote economic and commercial diplomacy, we are pleased to announce that we will encourage American companies wishing to invest in this region of Morocco,” U.S. Deputy Secretary of State, Christopher Landau, said.
