The Moroccan pavilion was inaugurated at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia on Friday in Venice, the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication said in a press release.
Morocco’s participation in this event, held from May to November 2025, is the fruit of joint effort by the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication and the Ministry of National Territory and Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy, according to the press release.
This participation embodies the Kingdom’s commitment, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, to supporting and promoting its creative talents on the international stage.
It marks a significant step towards promoting the wealth and innovation of Morocco’s artistic and architectural scene internationally, and an opportunity for the country to present an innovative project dubbed “Materiae Palimpsest.”
Designed by architects Khalil Morad El Ghilali and El Mehdi Belyasmine, the project explores the theme of “earthen architecture,” merging ancestral Moroccan craftsmanship with contemporary digital technologies.
“Materiae Palimpsest” seeks to redefine the perceptions of collective intelligence in the act of building and to highlight the potential of Moroccan architecture in light of contemporary environmental and social challenges.
The Moroccan pavilion will offer an immersive experience in the art of earthen construction, emphasizing its durability, flexibility, and intrinsic aesthetic. Through a multiscalar approach, the exhibition will explore knowledge transmission and the principles of the circular economy, the press release concluded.
