Morocco Serves as Model for Balanced Global Partnerships with International Actors, Says Minister at ‘Summer Davos’

Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leïla Benali stated on Wednesday that the twenty-first century sovereignty is built through partnerships, highlighting Morocco’s positioning as a trusted partner, engaged to balanced relations with international actors.

In a statement to MAP on the sidelines of her participation in the 17th annual Meeting of the New Champions of World Economic Forum, known as ‘Summer Davos’ in Dalian, China, the minister also emphasized that the Kingdom is now “a trusted partner that builds balanced relationships with all international actors, serving the interests of its people and those of the African continent.

In this context, Benali stated that Morocco’s participation in this meeting provided an opportunity for the Kingdom to present its strategic vision for the energy transition, industrial transformation, critical minerals, and sustainable development, under the leadership of his Majesty King Mohammed VI.

She further noted that this participation offered an opportunity to highlight the grounds of Morocco’s approach, which is based on balanced partnerships, institutional continuity, a long-term vision and assets that enhance the Kingdom’s position in the global dialogue on these strategic challenges.

The minister further highlighted that artificial intelligence offers new opportunities to countries capable of producing clean and responsible energy. She estimated that these countries will not just power technology, but will take center stage in its value chain and the broader digital transformation.

This year, the Annual Meeting of the New Champions, organized under the auspices of the World Economic Forum, brings together more than 1,700 leaders from over 90 countries in Dalian, including policymakers, business executives, researchers, and civil society representatives, to debate the major challenges facing the economy undergoing major restructuring.
