Morocco’s Consulate General in Valencia has announced measures to assist Moroccan nationals living in the region struck by the recent devastating floods.
“Due to the current storm situation, this consulate general is providing its citizens with an emergency number for assistance,” the consulate said today.
The number dedicated to the Moroccan diaspora is +34 631 935 818.
The floods killed 92 people, triggering a 3-day mourning; the death toll is expected to rise as many remain missing.
Reports have indicated this is the deadliest flood-related crisis in Spain since 1996.
Many countries have offered to assist Spain, including Morocco.
Earlier today, King Mohammed VI issued instructions to extend support to Spain following the severe floods.
Minister of Interior Abdelouafi Laftit conveyed Morocco’s readiness to dispatch a rescue team and provide any necessary assistance while offering condolences to the Spanish government and to the families of the victims.
The floods, caused by torrential rains, struck eastern regions including Murcia.
Portugal and several other countries have also offered to help Spain mitigate the devastating aftermath of the floods.
Turkiye expressed condolences to Spain earlier today, conveying deep sorrow over the loss of lives in Valencia.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of lives caused by the recent floods in Valencia and its vicinity. We extend our condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and the people of Spain,” the Turkish government said in a statement.
Azerbaijani foreign ministry also issued a statement expressing condolences to Spain, namely the families of the victims and the Spanish government.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of life and huge damage as a result of floods in Valencia region, Spain,” the statement reads.
King Mohammed VI also extended condolences to Spain today.
