Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism announced today that the country issued 385,738 electronic visas by the end of 2024.
The number covered all issued visas since Morocco launched the electronic visa system in 2022.
Recent data covering the period from July 2022 to the end of 2024 shows that the electronic visa system has had “positive results, particularly in attracting tourists drawn by the convenience and accessibility it offers.”
The number accounts for 95% of those issued for tourism purposes, the ministry said, celebrating the momentum that has contributed to facilitating travel for tourism in Morocco.
The number also reflects a 6% growth in the number of electronic visas issued in 2024 compared to 2023, the minister detailed, noting that an average of 13,500 e-visas are granted monthly. The month of November last year recorded a peak of 16,900 visas.
Visitors from 111 nationalities benefited from the electronic visa in 2024, indicating Morocco’s strategy to diversify its markets.
Sharing details about the nationalities that benefited from the e-visa procedure, the ministry said India stands out with 36,690 e-visas granted.
This represents an increase of 52% compared to 2023, followed by notable increases from countries such as Pakistan, Nigeria, and Egypt.
“The launch of the electronic visa system proves to be a strategic initiative that effectively meets the growing demands of global tourism,” the ministry said. It stressed Morocco’s determination to strengthen its tourism infrastructure to welcome a diverse range of travelers.
Morocco welcomed 17.4 million tourists by the end of 2024, with the number exceeding the target set for 2026.
Meanwhile, the country seeks to attract 26 million tourists by 2030.
