Morocco’s Ombudsman, Mohamed Benalilou, held talks, here on Wednesday, with the President of the Saudi Board of Grievances, Khalid bin Mohammed Al-Youssef, who is on a working visit to Morocco.
The visit of Al-Youssef and his accompanying delegation aims to deepen the exchanges initiated during last year’s meeting between the two parties in Riyadh, the Kingdom’s Ombudsman Institution said in a press release, recalling that the discussions focused on several issues of common interest, as well as on mechanisms of strengthening cooperation and partnership between the two institutions, in line with the strong ties binding the two brotherly countries in various fields.
This visit also provided an opportunity for both officials to highlight the their respective institutions’ achievements in defending rights and promoting good public governance, based on the principles of justice and fairness, the same source added.
Given the importance of institutional mediation in the field of human rights internationally, and its role in strengthening the rule of law and promoting transparency and integrity in public services, both sides also examined existing coordination mechanisms in this field.
This meeting also marks a new step towards establishing a strategic cooperation framework between the two parties, while respecting the specific missions and functions assigned to each institution, according to the press release.
In this regard, both officials emphasized the importance of relationships with other constitutional and national institutions, as well as the need for institutional coordination, while praising the deep cooperation between their respective institutions in various areas related to protecting rights, handling complaints and promoting justice and fairness.
