Spanish National Police announced on Monday the arrest in Catalonia of two individuals suspected of being members of the terrorist organization Daesh, during an operation carried out in collaboration with Morocco’s General Directorate for Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

The suspects, aged 24 and 26, were arrested in Vallfogona de Balaguer (northeastern Spain), for their alleged involvement in crimes of consuming and spreading terrorist propaganda and inciting violent acts, according to a statement from the police.

The investigation, launched a year and a half ago, unveiled that one of the suspects, already known to the Spanish security services, was highly radicalized and played an active role in spreading terrorist content and recruiting individuals to carry out terrorist attacks, the same source added.

The two individuals were brought before the Central Investigating Judge No. 1, who ordered the main suspect to be remanded in custody.

A police operation carried out on Thursday led to the arrest of the two suspects and the seizure, during house searches, of various computer equipment, which is currently under analysis, the statement concluded.
