Police officers in Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport arrested, on Sunday, a French national of Turkish origins who was the subject of an international arrest warrant issued by French authorities, a security source said.
A check of the 44 year-old suspect in Interpol’s database revealed that he was the subject of a Red Notice issued by the National Central Bureau in Paris for his alleged connection to a criminal network involved in fraud, money laundering and tax evasion. The suspect is also alleged to have committed financial crimes, the same source added.
The suspect was subjected to extradition proceedings on the instructions of the competent public prosecutor’s office, while the Interpol National Central Bureau in Rabat, which reports to the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN), was tasked with notifying its counterpart in France of the arrest.
This arrest is part of the Moroccan security services’ commitment to implementing international security cooperation mechanisms, particularly with regard to the prosecution and arrest of individuals wanted internationally in cross-border crime cases.
