A letter amending the Agricultural Agreement between Morocco and the European Union was signed on October 03, 2025 in Brussels. This agreement will come into force as soon as the internal procedures are finalized.

The agreement perfectly reinforces the Moroccan position by confirming that agricultural products from the Southern Provinces benefit from the same preferential tariffs granted by the EU to Morocco under the Association Agreement and that, consequently, the conditions of access to the European market for products from the North will be applied to the products of the Moroccan Sahara, with a bonus of a label mentioning the production regions in the south of the Kingdom – “Laayoune-Sakiat el Hamra” and “Dakhla-Oued Eddahab”.

The European approach is in line with the recent American declaration, the Morocco-France Economic Forum, scheduled in Dakhla on October 09 and the action planned by the British Agency UK Export Finance, paying in the same direction.

These developments reinforce the position of the Kingdom in its Southern Provinces and further confirm the interest of the major world powers in encouraging trade and investment in the Moroccan Sahara, to make it a regional economic hub of excellence.

In terms of Morocco-EU relations, this agreement reiterates the Union’s support for the serious and credible efforts led by the Kingdom in its Southern Provinces and reaffirms the positions of many Member States expressing their support for the Moroccan initiative of autonomy, thanks to the dynamics driven by the Enlightened Conduct of His Majesty King Mohammed VI – May God Assist Him, whether on the register of the efforts made in favor of the National Cause or as part of the Kingdom’s will to boost a new dynamic in Morocco-EU relations.

Indeed, at a time when the regional context is complex and crises are becoming structural, the conclusion of the agreement is a major step in rapprochement and allows Morocco and the EU to approach their common future with serenity and to envisage an ambitious and promising path.
