The French Ambassador to Morocco, Christophe Lecourtier, affirmed on Thursday in Dakhla that the French government encourages and supports French companies investing in the southern provinces of the Kingdom.

Speaking at the Morocco-France Economic Forum, Lecourtier stressed that French companies have already been part of the “impressive developments” Morocco has achieved, noting that they will also be part of the “even more remarkable developments in the South” of the country.

Reviewing Morocco’s all-round development, the ambassador highlighted that “in industry, the country has reached a level never before attained in global value chains,” while in the energy sector, Morocco “is becoming a giant in its own right.”

In this regard, he recalled that Franco-Moroccan partnerships are working to harness this potential, particularly in renewable energies, interconnections between Europe and Africa, and green hydrogen prospects.

“All of this will take place mainly in the regions of Guelmim-Oued Noun, Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra, and Dakhla-Oued Eddahab,” he pointed out.

“This is more than ever the time to accelerate efforts and seize the opportunities Morocco offers in all these regions,” Lecourtier said, addressing French companies.

The diplomat also underlined that this forum “demonstrates the exceptional economic momentum between our two countries,” emphasizing the significance of holding this event in Dakhla, a city where “the cooperations of tomorrow are being imagined and built.”

He added that the forum also carries major symbolic importance, as it “embodies France’s clear and unequivocal position on the Sahara”, affirmed by French President Emmanuel Macron, according to which “the present and future of the Sahara lie within the framework of Moroccan sovereignty.”

Furthermore, Lecourtier noted that it also reflects the projection of the Moroccan economy toward Africa and marks a new milestone in the Franco-Moroccan economic roadmap for the next generation.

Organized by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF), through the France-Morocco Business Leaders Club, this high-level economic forum aims to strengthen bilateral economic partnership and identify new synergies between Moroccan and French business communities.
