In a bid to strengthen parliamentary cooperation, the Speaker of Morocco’s House of Councillors, Mohamed Ould Errachid, held, on Wednesday in Malabo (Equatorial Guinea), talks with the President of the Parliament of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC), Evariste Ngamana.

During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of Ould Errachid’s participation in the opening of CEMAC Parliament’s second ordinary session, both sides discussed ways to promote parliamentary cooperation, strengthen partnership ties between the two legislative institutions, and consolidate communication and collaboration on issues of common interest, while working to enhance coordination in international fora, the House of Councillors said in a press release.

On this occasion, Ould Errachid reaffirmed that the Kingdom of Morocco, under the enlightened Leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, remains firmly committed to its African orientation and to deepening it through cooperation based on solidarity and mutual respect, a partnership aimed at making the continent a space for shared development and stability.

He added that the partnership with the CEMAC Parliament is part of this vision and serves as an open framework to further strengthen exchanges of visits, expertise and experience, consolidate consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest, and support concrete initiatives in the areas of development, governance, energy, training and joint projects with strong socioeconomic impact.

The Upper House Speaker said his participation in the CEMAC Parliament session reflects the spirit of joint work between the two institutions across various fields of parliamentary and economic cooperation, and embodies the shared conviction that continuous and regular dialogue remains the most effective path to consolidating African integration in all its dimensions.

Ould Errachid stressed that this meeting forms part of a process of fruitful cooperation that continues today in an atmosphere of mutual understanding and trust, grounded in deep human ties and a shared sense of African belonging.

He recalled that the Memorandum of Understanding signed in Rabat, followed by the Laayoune Declaration, marked an important milestone in this dynamic, establishing an institutional framework for regular cooperation and opening new prospects for the exchange of experiences and the organization of forums and meetings on topics related to the economy, human development and regional security.

For his part, Ngamana said the talks reflect the spirit of joint work between the two legislative institutions in various areas of parliamentary and economic cooperation, underscoring that continuous dialogue remains a key avenue for advancing African integration.

Ngamana called for capitalizing on this positive momentum to make the CEMAC Parliament a platform for launching cooperation initiatives between the Moroccan Parliament and those of CEMAC member states.

He noted that previous meetings between the House of Councillors and the CEMAC Parliament, held in Rabat and Laayoune, the capital of Morocco’s southern provinces, have provided opportunities to exchange views and establish concrete channels of cooperation, illustrating the value of result-oriented parliamentary approaches supporting economic and social issues.

The CEMAC Parliament President also praised the esteem in which HM King Mohammed VI is held by the countries and parliaments of the Community, commending the solidarity and development projects and initiatives launched by the Sovereign in support of Africa’s development.

Ngamana further highlighted the strategic importance of the Royal Atlantic Initiative and the Atlantic African Gas Pipeline project, and their contribution to strengthening African cooperation.
