Morocco is a model to follow in its approach to development, said Karim Bouamrane, mayor of the French municipality of Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine (Greater Paris), on the sidelines of COP30 held in Belém, in the Brazilian Amazon.

“The Kingdom is a benchmark in its ability to respond to major contemporary challenges, be it in education, health, training, sports, diplomacy, gender equality, or the promotion of soft power. We witness it every day,” Bouamrane said in an interview with MAP-Brazil.

The French-Moroccan official argued that “Morocco’s leadership is not only African, it is global.”

In the field of the environment, Bouamrane emphasized that the Kingdom is at the forefront of the fight against climate change and water stress management, thanks to a proactive strategy that includes seawater desalination, wastewater reuse, and water resource conservation, thereby guaranteeing its national sovereignty.

Bouamrane also praised Morocco’s civic and social dimension: “Respect for institutions and the commitment of young people make Morocco an inspiring country. It is a loving country that instills a sense of pride and belonging, even in its community living abroad.”

Finally, he spoke of the role of international partners, particularly France, in sharing expertise and best practices and ensuring sustainable human development.
