King Mohammed VI sent a message of congratulations to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on the occasion of Palestine’s National Day, while also expressing strong support for Palestinians during the difficult times they are living through.
In his message, King Mohammed VI said he was happy to extend “warm congratulations” to President Abbas and wished him good health. He also wished the Palestinian people “freedom, security, and prosperity,” acknowledging their ongoing struggle.
The King recalled the “deep and historic ties” between Morocco and Palestine, saying the relationship is built on mutual respect, cooperation, and active solidarity.
He also repeated Morocco’s “firm support” for the Palestinian people’s legitimate rights, especially their right to establish an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, in line with the internationally supported two-state solution.
The King’s message comes at a time when Palestinians in Gaza are facing severe hardship. Over two years of Israeli genocide have claimed the lives of tens of thousands of Palestinians, destroyed large parts of the Strip, leaving hundreds of thousands displaced and struggling to access food, clean water, electricity, and medical care.
Many families are living in tents or overcrowded shelters, and humanitarian aid remains limited. The situation is especially dire as winter has begun, with rain flooding camps and tents.
Despite the ongoing ceasefire, Israeli Occupation Forces continue to attack Palestinians, claiming the lives of over 100 since the truce took effect.
Tensions have also been rising in the West Bank. Israeli raids on cities and refugee camps have increased in recent months, leading to more arrests and casualties among Palestinians. Movement restrictions, settler violence, and economic challenges continue to affect daily life for Palestinians.
