The former Secretary General of the Arab League, Amr Moussa, praised, Saturday in Tangier, the vision of HM King Mohammed VI for a just and lasting peace in the Middle East region.
Speaking at the panel entitled ‘The conflict and battles to redefine the regional order: towards a new Middle East?’, held as part of the 17th MEDays International Forum, Moussa underlined the importance of the pillars highlighted by the Sovereign, in His Message addressed to the President of the United Nations Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, on the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, stressing that these are the foundations of any credible effort towards a just and lasting peace in the region.
These fundamentals defined by HM the King, he said, must guide any action or international effort in favor of a just and lasting peace, in particular that of guaranteeing the unity of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, politically and administratively, under the supervision of the Palestinian National Authority, in the prospect that together, they form an integral part of the desired Palestinian State, with East Al-Quds as its capital, as well as supporting the Palestinian National Authority, under the leadership of President Mahmoud Abbas, and strengthening its political, administrative and financial capacities.
The former Secretary-General of the Arab League also addressed the recent developments at the international level, particularly the continued recognition of the State of Palestine and the ongoing changes in the world and in the Arab region, while insisting on the need to resolve the Palestinian issue, in order to pave the way for better cooperation and coexistence.
For his part, Ramadan Abu Jazar, Director of the Research Department of the International Center for Research and Human Rights in Brussels, underlined the growing international dynamic in favor of the Palestinian cause after two years of war in the Gaza Strip, praising Morocco’s stance, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al Quds Committee.
The Kingdom has been and remains a great defender of the rights of the Palestinian people, he said in a statement to the press at the end of the panel, highlighting the sustained efforts of HM the King in support of the Palestinian cause.
Organized under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, at the initiative of the Amadeus Institute, the MEDays Forum is one of the continent’s major events, bringing together each year heads of state, political leaders, experts and international actors.
