The wait time for US visa appointments in Morocco has been reduced from 10 to just two months currently ahead of the 2026 World Cup, co-hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada, said Andrew Giuliani, Executive Director of the White House Task Force for the FIFA World Cup, Wednesday in Washington.

This represents a reduction of “over 80 %” in wait times compared to November 2024 for Moroccans seeking a US visa, the senior US official said during a press conference held on the eve of the World Cup draw, scheduled for Friday in the US capital.

Recalling that Morocco is a co-host of the 2030 World Cup alongside Portugal and Spain, Mr. Giuliani welcomed this reduction in wait times for US visa appointments, noting that it will particularly benefit supporters and fans of the Moroccan national team planning to travel to the United States next summer to follow the tournament.

This effort, he said, is in addition to the FIFA Priority Appointment Scheduling System (PASS) for ticket holders, recently announced by President Donald Trump.

In this regard, he explained that the US State Department has recruited more than 450 additional employees to facilitate and accelerate the process of obtaining US visas, especially for nationals of countries qualified for the 2026 World Cup, expected to be “the biggest sporting event in US history.”

As a result, approximately 300 000 additional visa interview appointments have been added, with projections reaching several million appointment slots by early next year.

The United States expects to welcome between 5 and 7 million international visitors during this global sporting event, scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, with matches being played in the United States, Mexico, and Canada, the executive director of the White House Task Force said.
