The Moroccan Airports Authority (ONDA) has announced that the preventive measures have been lifted on the Tetouan Sania R’mel airport, which has reopened starting Saturday.

The decision to reopen the airport was based on technical evaluations confirming that the required security conditions have been reestablished, following coordination with the ministry of Transport and Logistics, local authorities and all concerned stakeholders, ONDA said in a press release.

Recalling that following the exceptional weather conditions that affected the northern region, a temporary closure of the runway had been decided as a preventive measure, ONDA pointed out that the monitoring, drainage, and pumping operations carried out by the technical teams have led to a significant improvement in the situation.

“The strips have been completely cleared of water, and pumping operations are continuing on an ongoing basis to ensure that operational and safety conditions are maintained. All facilities are now functional,” according to the same source.
