Morocco is consolidating its status as an African hub for international arbitration and is becoming a regional reference, said participants at the 9th Casablanca Arbitration Days, organized by the Casablanca International Mediation and Arbitration Center (CIMAC) on Saturday.

During the closing session of this two-day event, speakers highlighted that the last decade has been marked by significant evolution in Morocco’s arbitration field.

They highlighted, in this regard, key developments that include the adoption of a modern arbitration law, the implementation of a preliminary conciliation mechanism within the framework of the Investment Charter.

Participants noted that CFC, recognized as the leading financial center in Africa, illustrates the remarkable trajectory the Kingdom has taken over the span of a decade.

Morocco’s geostrategic position, at the crossroads of the African, Arab, and European worlds, was highlighted as a major competitive advantage among international legal venues.

Michael Black, a judge at the Dubai International Financial Center (DIFC) and President of its Digital Economy Court, underscored the joint development of the International Mediation and Arbitration Center of Casablanca (CIMAC) and Finance City (CFC), noting that this partnership has established the latter as the leading financial center on the African continent.
