Morocco’s General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM) has forecast locally strong thunderstorms with heavy rain, strong winds, and hail in several regions of the country on Monday and Tuesday.

The orange-level weather alert expects rainfall to reach between 30 and 40 mm in areas including Khemisset, Sidi Slimane, Khenifra, Khouribga, Fquih Ben Salah, Azilal, Beni Mellal, Settat, Marrakech, Kelaat Sraghna, Al Haouz, and Rehamna. These conditions are expected from 2 pm on Monday until 11 pm the same day.

The forecast also predicts rainfall between 25 and 30 mm in Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Driouch, Taza, and Taounate. These storms are expected to start Monday evening at around 6 pm and continue until Tuesday morning at 6 am.

The weather office warned that these storms may be accompanied by strong wind gusts and localized hail in some areas.

The latest warning comes as Morocco has experienced unstable weather conditions over the past couple of weeks. The weather has shifted between periods of stability and sudden changes, with strong winds, thunderstorms, and rising temperatures affecting different parts of the country.
