The Moroccan national team has begun preparation ahead of 2026 FIFA World Cup in Mohammed VI Complex as coaching staff prepare to finalize the World Cup squad.
Groupe of players, including Youssef Belamri, Mohamed Chibi, Oussama Tergaline, Othmane Maama, Sofiane Boufal, Yassine Jassim, Ayoub El Kaabi, Ismail Sibari, and Yasser Zabiri all reported to the complex early on Monday. The official testing and evaluation period runs from Friday, May 22, through Tuesday, May 26.
This short intensive camp follows national team coach Mohamed Ouahbi’s announcement of a 28-player preliminary roster on Thursday. The sessions will serve as a final audition for the call-ups before the definitive World Cup squad list that will be officially revealed on Tuesday, May 26.
The national team’s intensive training block serves as a crucial turning point for the squad under the guidance of head coach Mohamed Ouahbi. Following his appointment to the senior national team earlier this spring, Ouahbi is using these five days to firmly instill his high-pressing, fluid attacking philosophy.
The five-day block in Maamoura effectively kicks off the final countdown to the World Cup team selection, leaving the chosen squad with exactly 20 days to fine-tune their chemistry before their opening World Cup fixture.
