Qatari police have arrested 25 Arab nationals following a violent brawl that broke out at a restaurant in Doha’s Dafna district during the 2026 FIFA World Cup match between Algeria and Jordan.
Qatar’s Ministry of Interior explained in a statement that the competent authorities have initiated all necessary legal procedures after Videos shared on social media showed people throwing chairs, damaging property, and causing chaos inside the venue.
The accompanying actions that were shown during the videos were considered as acts of violation of the law, and constituted an attack of public safety and property with the breach of public order.
The ministry added that the detainees have been placed under the necessary legal procedures ahead of their referral to the Public Prosecution, which will oversee the continuation of the judicial process.
It further urged the public to comply with the country’s laws and regulations and to act responsibly, emphasizing that authorities will take firm action against anyone found to have endangered public security or safety.
This statement comes after the widely shared footage on social media showed clashes involving several supporters, including individuals wearing Algerian national team jerseys, following Algeria’s 2-1 victory over Jordan.
