The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, held, on Thursday in Rabat, talks with the French Prime Minister, Sébastien Lecornu, who is on a working visit to Morocco at the helm of a high-level French delegation, as part of the proceedings of the 15th Morocco-France High Level Meeting.
The meeting was attended, on the Moroccan side, by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the Kingdom of Morocco’s Ambassador to France, Samira Sitail, and on the French side by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Jean-Noël Barrot, as well as France’s Ambassador to Morocco, Philippe Lalliot, the Head of Government’s office said in a statement.
At the outset of this meeting, Akhannouch underlined that holding this High Level Meeting is of particular importance, as part of the new momentum in the relations between Morocco and France, driven by HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and the President of the French Republic, H.E. Emmanuel Macron, on the occasion of the State visit paid by the French President to the Kingdom of Morocco in October 2024. The Reinforced Exceptional Partnership, established during the visit, kickstarted a new episode in the relations between the two countries, he noted.
The Head of Government assured that the 15th Morocco-France High-Level Meeting constitutes a governmental mechanism for monitoring and steering the Reinforced Exceptional Partnership, as well as evaluating the progress made in implementing the commitments established at the highest level between the two countries. It will also make it possible to identify new structuring projects capable of outlining the horizons for the next stage of the privileged relations between Morocco and France.
This High-Level Meeting is taking place in a context marked by an unprecedented strengthening of political relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the French Republic, driven by the historic evolution of the French position on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, the statement concludes.
