Morocco’s Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, held separate talks with his counterparts from the Republic of the Congo, Rodrigue Malanda-Samba, and Mauritius, Muhammad Reza Cassam Uteem, on the sidelines of the 114th Session of the International Labour Conference (June 1–12 in Geneva).

The talks focused on prospects for cooperation and the exchange of expertise and best practices between Morocco and the two friendly countries in areas of common interest to their respective ministries.

Speaking to the press following his meeting with Sekkouri, Congo’s Minister of Employment, Entrepreneurship and Qualifying Training praised Morocco’s experience in employment, vocational training, and entrepreneurship, expressing his country’s desire to draw inspiration from it in order to strengthen its own public policies.

“Morocco has extensive experience in employment, training, and entrepreneurship issues, and we would like to learn from that experience and adapt it to our context,” he said.

The official noted that Morocco and the Republic of the Congo share similar challenges and circumstances, adding that his discussions with the Moroccan minister provided a valuable opportunity to enhance cooperation and explore common solutions to employment-related issues.

Talks with Mauritius’ Minister of Labor and Industrial Relations focused on ways to strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Addressing prospects for bilateral cooperation, Sekkouri highlighted Morocco’s ongoing industrial momentum, noting that the Kingdom has become a key player in the automotive and aerospace sectors. He also underscored the training ecosystem supporting this industrial development, particularly through Morocco’s network of 12 Cities of Trades and Skills.

The meetings took place on the sidelines of Sekkouri’s participation in the 114th ILC, where he leads a large tripartite delegation comprising representatives of the government and social partners.
