Morocco and Switzerland expressed their determination on Friday in Bern to further strengthen their political dialogue and bilateral partnership.
During a meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the Federal Councillor, Vice-President of the Swiss Confederation, and Head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Ignazio Cassis, both parties welcomed the new positive and promising dynamics in bilateral relations, marked by a convergence of views on issues of common interest and the intensification of meetings, both in bilateral and multilateral frameworks.
Bourita held talks with Beat Jans, Federal Councillor and Head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police.
The discussions focused notably on the current state and prospects of relations between Morocco and Switzerland, as well as means to strengthen the partnership linking the two countries in all areas, including migration.
Jans warmly welcomed the state of cooperation between the two countries in the field of migration, following the establishment in September 2023 of a migration dialogue in the form of the Permanent Joint Migration Group, intended to create a framework for in-depth consultation on the various dimensions of migration.
The two ministers agreed to jointly organize, during the 2026 Swiss Chairmanship of the Rabat Process, an event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Process launched in Rabat in 2006.
