Morocco’s Enaam Mayara, Speaker of the House of Councillors, will chair the 18th Plenary Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean (PAM), to be held on May 15-16 in Braga, Portugal, in his capacity as chairman of the regional parliamentary organization.
This session, which takes place in a regional context marked by multidimensional challenges, will address topical themes and issues through recommendations and resolutions drawn up within the framework of the PAM’s specialized Standing Committees, notably on the issues of migration, security, terrorism, human trafficking, economic, industrial and energy transition, climate change, digitalization and artificial intelligence, states a press release from the upper house.
The Moroccan delegation’s participation in this session is part of the reinforcement of the House of Councillors’ sustained action within the PAM and the consolidation of its presence in regional and international parliamentary forums in the service of the Kingdom’s supreme interests. It is also an opportunity to highlight the Kingdom’s positions on regional and international issues under the wise and far-sighted leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI.
This participation, adds the press release, is an illustration of the Kingdom’s interest in the Mediterranean region, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, in strengthening dialogue and understanding between Mediterranean countries, and in building the bridges of cooperation with Gulf countries, in the service of peace, stability, coexistence, development and prosperity for the peoples of both regions.
