Morocco’s digital transformation was at the center of a meeting, Wednesday in Rabat, between Minister Delegate in charge of Digital Transition and Administration Reform Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni and World Bank (WB) Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Ousmane Dione, who is leading a delegation from the international financial institution.
Speaking on this occasion, Seghrouchni noted that this meeting follows the approval and signing, last June, of the Kingdom’s Digital Transformation Acceleration Program, which established a common framework based on measurable results and the use of national systems.
Backed by $250 million in funding over five years, this program seeks to accelerate the rollout and adoption of user-centric digital public services, as well as to strengthen private-sector digitalization, competitiveness, and contribution to job creation, she added.
Seghrouchni emphasized that this initiative will accelerate the projects already underway at the Ministry—particularly in areas of digital administration, digital infrastructure, artificial intelligence (AI), and the digital economy and employment—by aligning them with a results-oriented approach.
The Minister further stated that her department’s immediate priority is to ensure the operational launch of the Program, in coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in order to establish the conditions necessary for its entry into force before September 23, 2026.
For his part, Dione noted, in a statement to MAP, that this meeting follows up on discussions initiated two years ago in Washington regarding the establishment of a solid partnership with Morocco.
In this regard, he welcomed the embodiment of this cooperation through the approval of $250 million in funding to support the Kingdom’s digital agenda.
According to him, this partnership will contribute to the modernization of the administration, the development of the digital agenda, job creation, and the strengthening of system interoperability, thereby improving the performance of the Moroccan economy and administration.
