Ryanair announced the launch of a new route connecting Marrakech to Birmingham, a major city in central England, set to begin in winter of 2024.
The airline will offer three weekly flights on this route, expanding its service in Morocco for this winter season.
The announcement, made on Tuesday, October 22, is part of Ryanair’s strategy to increase connectivity between Morocco and Europe.
“The new route between Marrakech and Birmingham provides more travel options for both Moroccan citizens and visitors,” said Elena Cabrera, Ryanair’s Head of Communications.
Ryanair has been actively expanding its operations in Morocco. In May 2024, the airline opened a new base in Tangier with a $200 million investment, adding two new aircraft and launching 25 routes, including 13 new destinations.
These routes connect Tangier with eight European cities and five domestic destinations within Morocco.
The expansion is expected to create over 600 jobs, including 60 positions for pilots and cabin crew, and increase Tangier’s flight capacity by 70% for summer 2024.
The airline estimates it will transport over 5 million passengers to, from, and within Morocco, representing a 31% increase in passenger numbers.

The airline currently operates across 12 Moroccan airports, aiming to enhance both tourism and local connectivity with its growing network.
