Paris Saint-Germain’s (PSG) Moroccan right-back Achraf Hakimi (26) has said he is delighted with the extension of his contract at the French club until 2029.

Hakimi’s reaction follows yesterday’s announcement of his contract extension with the Parisian club.

A statement from PSG said that the Moroccan Atlas Lion has “quickly established himself as one of the first names on the Paris team sheet” since he first signed with the club in 2021.

Commenting on the extension, Hakimi said “I’m very happy to be continuing my stay with Paris Saint-Germain,” thanking “club’s president, sporting director, and coach, who have all made this possible.”

Hakimi went on to argue that the “club and its fans really do have something special,” explaining that this provides him an “ideal environment in which to work and to blossom on the pitch.”

“It’s an honor to represent this great club, and I can’t wait to keep contributing to its history,” he added.

Achraf Hakimi’s impact at PSG was immediately felt during his debut season, where he contributed significantly to the club’s Ligue 1 title triumph by featuring in 40 matches. His consistent performances and reliability quickly established him as a cornerstone of the team’s success.

The Moroccan defender’s trophy cabinet has expanded impressively in the meantime, accumulating two more Ligue 1 titles in 2023 and 2024, along with a Coupe de France victory in 2024 and a hat-trick of Trophées des Champions wins from 2022 to 2024.

Such achievements have earned Hakimi a well-deserved position among Luis Enrique’s vice-captains, reflecting his growing leadership role within the PSG squad.

With remarkable statistics of 17 goals and 27 assists across 147 appearances for PSG, Hakimi has proven himself to be more than just a defensive player.

His numbers, combined with his tactical understanding and flexibility, have cemented his status as one of the premier fullbacks in world football today.

Hakimi’s stay extension is part of PSG’s extending contracts with Luis Enrique as the team’s manager, left-back Nuno Mendes (22) and midfielder Vitinha (24) – have signed long-term contract extensions.
