GITEX Africa 2025 is here. The continent’s big tech event opened its doors today in an atmosphere brimming with ambitious declarations to enhance Africa’s digital future.
The kickoff ceremony started with a powerful display of African unity, beginning with the Moroccan national anthem, followed by a captivating opening video showcasing the continent’s digital transformation journey.
The ceremony featured an impressive lineup of distinguished speakers. Amal El Fallah Seghrouchni, Morocco’s Minister of Digital Transition and Administration Reform, outlined the country’s ambitious digital strategy.
Distinguished international perspectives were provided by Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, focusing on the critical importance of cross-continental collaboration in building cyber resilience.
The ceremonial proceedings continued with insightful addresses from Sidi Mohammed Drissi Melyani, Director General of Morocco’s Digital Development Agency, and Chakib Alj, President of the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises, both pointing out the vital role of public-private partnerships in Africa’s tech ecosystem.
Trixie LohMirmand, CEO of KAOUN International, concluded the opening speeches with a visionary perspective on Africa’s position in the global technology landscape before the dignitaries gathered for the official commemorative photo.
The ceremony seamlessly transitioned into high-level panel discussions exploring Africa’s technological sovereignty and the crucial infrastructure developments underpinning the continent’s digital transformation.
The event’s kickoff ceremony culminated in an official tour of the exhibition space, where innovations from across Africa and beyond awaited discovery.
