Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Ghana Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa lauded the growing momentum of bilateral relations between his country and Morocco in the economic field.

In a joint Communiqué issued in Rabat on Thursday, following the meeting between Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates Nasser Bourita and his Ghanaian peer, the two ministers welcomed the excellent ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries, as well as the quality of esteem and respect sentiments at the root of relations between the two Heads of State, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, and His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, President of the Republic of Ghana.

Bourita and Okudzeto Ablakwa commended the progress of relations between the two countries since the official visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to Ghana in February 2017.

This progress, marked by a growing presence of Moroccan companies in Ghana in various sectors, including fertilizers, banking and infrastructure, reflects the solid foundations at the base of cooperation between the Kingdom and the Republic of Ghana.

The two ministers undertook to further promote a dynamic and effective partnership between economic players in the two countries, and to explore new investment and trade opportunities.

In this context, they discussed the organisation of a ‘Moroccan Economic Mission’ to Ghana, followed by a ‘Ghana Economic Promotion Week’ in Morocco.

The two officials also underlined the interest shown by the Heads of State of the two sister countries in promoting their economic ties within the framework of a win-win partnership.

To this end, they agreed to establish a Monitoring Committee to oversee the implementation of bilateral agreements, particularly in the fields of agriculture, fisheries, renewable energy, logistics, digital economy and education.
