The 16th Harat Al-Maghariba summer camps, organized for children from Al-Quds by the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Asharif (BMAQ) Agency under the High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Qods Committee, was inaugurated on Tuesday in Tangier.
The camp, hosting 50 girls and boys aged 11 to 14 from the city of Al-Qods until August 26, began with a “summer school” held at the Ahmed Boukmakh Cultural Center for Moroccan and Palestinian children, on the theme “Let’s Make Electronic Games a Tool for Education, Learning, and Entertainment.”
The opening ceremony of this school took place in the presence of BMAQ Managing Director Mohamed Salem Echarkaoui, Palestinian Ambassador to Morocco Jamal Choubaki, and several local officials.
The activities of this school are supervised by experts specialized in education on protective tools, artificial intelligence, and responsible, regulated entertainment through electronic games, delivered via interactive workshops and practical applications.
This school brings together 50 children from Al-Qods and 50 Moroccan children, divided into thematic workshops focused on “education on protective tools,” “discovering opportunities offered by artificial intelligence to develop knowledge and perceptions,” and “exploring the limits of responsible and regulated entertainment through electronic games.”
In this context, Echarkaoui emphasized that the choice of this theme aligns with the national effort undertaken by institutions in Morocco, Palestine, and worldwide to raise youth awareness about the obvious and hidden dangers of games, and the necessity of ensuring protection for these groups who require constant family and institutional support.
He specified that the choice of electronic games as a theme is also part of the Agency’s digital strategy (2024-2027), which includes an incubator for innovative projects, the “Bayt Al-Maghrib” platform for documenting and protecting Palestinian heritage from Al-Qods, the “Dalala” platform for solidarity e-commerce, a distance learning platform, a psychological support clinic, and the “Haya” app aimed at children and youth to promote the values and virtues of Al-Qods.
Regarding this edition of the summer camp for children from Al-Quds, Echarkaoui stated that the “Harat al Maghariba” edition will primarily be one of games, leisure, and relaxation, but also a time for education, culture, and knowledge, embodying Moroccan principles and the values of family and community based on affection, compassion, coexistence, mutual respect, and rejection of division, violence, and extremism.
For his part, the Palestinian Ambassador highlighted that the efforts to organize this summer camp for children from Al-Quds are an important testament to the interest and High Patronage of HM King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, who considers the Palestinian cause a central issue for Morocco.
He added that naming this edition “Harat al Maghariba” also reflects the genuine partnership between Morocco and Palestine, affirming that this partnership and the relationship between Morocco and Al-Quds are especially strong due to their historic nature and being part of Morocco’s constants.
After recalling the concrete, on-the-ground efforts made by the BMAQ to support the resilience of the people of Al-Quds, the Palestinian ambassador praised the urgent humanitarian and medical aid that His Majesty the King, President of the Al-Qods Committee, has ordered to be sent to the Palestinian people, particularly the residents of Gaza.
The program of this edition, organized with the support and partnership of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Communication – Youth sector, includes artistic and sports competitions between children from Al-Qods and Morocco, as well as tourist visits to the cities of Casablanca, Rabat, Tangier, Tetouan, M’diq, and Chefchaouen, where they will discover historical monuments and learn about several important ongoing projects in the Kingdom.
