Morocco and Pakistan have committed to building stronger relationships through regular exchanges and cooperation.

The bold step to boost the countries’ partnership came in the wake of a high-level parliamentary meeting held at the Pakistani Parliament House on Monday.

The Morocco-Pakistan Parliamentary Friendship Group hosted the gathering that saw the participation of Morocco’s Ambassador to Pakistan Mohamed Karmoune alongside senior Moroccan officials and Senate members.

Focus on economic and diplomatic growth

Pakistani Senator Bilal launched the meeting by focusing on the need for closer parliamentary, economic, and diplomatic connections between the two countries, especially as they can benefit both sides in multiple areas.

For his part, Karmoune confirmed Morocco’s dedication to advancing bilateral relations with Pakistan, specifically mentioning the need to balance trade by encouraging more imports from Pakistan, signaling Morocco’s interest in expanding economic partnerships.

Visa challenges and solutions

The meeting addressed practical obstacles that Moroccan citizens face when applying for Pakistani visas. Ambassador Karmoune noted that Morocco has already introduced e-visa facilities for Pakistani citizens and requested similar treatment for Moroccan applicants.

This reciprocal arrangement would make travel easier for citizens of both countries and support the goal of increasing people-to-people connections.

Meanwhile, both sides identified several promising sectors for collaboration, including education and healthcare, trade and agriculture, tourism development, and Defense and Sports.

Parliamentary diplomacy as foundation

Pakistani Advisor to the Chairman Senate Misbah Khar stressed the importance of institutional collaboration within bilateral and constitutional policy frameworks.

The diplomat identified trade, tourism, and cultural exchange as essential elements for building lasting partnerships.

The parliamentary group agreed that regular exchanges between lawmakers from both countries would create a strong foundation for long-term collaboration and stronger people-to-people connections.

The meeting concluded with both sides renewing their commitment to deepening Pakistan-Morocco relations through continued parliamentary diplomacy and enhanced institutional cooperation.
