The speech delivered by His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the opening of the Parliament’s session is a true roadmap for policy makers with the aim of managing citizens’ affairs with efficiency, responsibility, and seriousness, said Abdelkarim Amengay, professor of political science at the Doha Institute for Graduate Studies.
The academic told MAP that His Majesty the King stressed the need for a change in mentality to achieve local development, which represents “a clear message addressed to the elites to break away from any management of public policies that does not respond to the real concerns of citizens and that has no concrete impact on local development.”
The Royal speech clearly emphasized the need to pay particular attention to the most vulnerable areas, while taking into account their specific characteristics and the nature of their needs, notably mountainous regions and those far from major urban centers, he added.
After highlighting the Sovereign’s call to mobilize all energies and prioritize the supreme interests of the Nation and its citizens, Amengay stressed the responsibility that lies with the elites, the government, and elected officials to ensure the optimal implementation of public policies, social programs, and national initiatives, with the goal of reducing social disparities and establishing territorial justice.
