Thousands of Rabat residents took to the streets of the capital on Friday in grand celebration of the historic resolution of UN’s Security Council on the Moroccan Sahara, in a spirit of pride and sincere patriotism.

Waving national flags and portraits of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, large crowds met at Bab Al-Had square, at Mohammed V avenue or Agdal, Youssoufia and Akari neighborhoods, to express joy following the adoption of this resolution, making a major milestone in the process of enshrining the Moroccaness of the Sahara.

On foot or by car, men and women, young and older, strolled the capital’s main arteries, singing patriotic and triumphant songs to the glory of the homeland and its territorial integrity, showing full ongoing commitment behind HM the King in defense of the main national cause.

In statements to MAP, several citizens expressed satisfaction at this resolution reaffirming yet again the rightfulness of the national cause and the credible and serious nature of the autonomy initiative, underlining that this is a turning point and historical step in the process of enshrining the Moroccaness of the Sahara.

In a Speech addressed Friday evening to His faithful people, HM the King emphasized that the Resolution of the UN Security Council has laid out the principles and foundations for the achievement of a final political solution to the question of the Sahara, in strict respect of Morocco’s legitimate rights.

“Despite the positive developments regarding the question of our territorial integrity, Morocco remains committed to finding a solution where there are no winners or losers – a solution that preserves the dignity of all parties,” the Sovereign said.
