The Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies welcomed Resolution 2797 of the United Nations Security Council, which supports Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara.
This position was stated in a resolution by the Chamber of Deputies, which reaffirms its support for the Kingdom’s sovereignty over its Sahara, according to a press release from the Moroccan Embassy in Asunción received by MAP.
In this resolution, the Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies “joins the United Nations Security Council in fully supporting the efforts of the United Nations Secretary-General and his Personal Envoy to facilitate and conduct negotiations between all parties on the basis of the autonomy plan under Moroccan sovereignty,” the same source added.
The resolution also welcomes the appeal launched by His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the populations of the Tindouf camps to seize this historic opportunity to reunite with their families, as well as His invitation to the Algerian President to engage in a fraternal and sincere dialogue between Morocco and Algeria, in order to build new relations based on trust and fraternal ties and good neighborliness.
The Paraguayan Chamber of Deputies also invites “all parties concerned to join in this positive momentum and to demonstrate a spirit of responsibility and political will in order to take advantage of the current international momentum for peace, stability and regional progress”.
Finally, it reaffirms its firm and constant support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and its full national sovereignty over its Sahara, in full compliance with the principles of the UN Charter and with respect for the national unity of states.
