Thunderstorms with hail and gusty winds, snowfall, and cold weather are forecast from Thursday to Sunday in several provinces of the Kingdom, according to the General Directorate of Meteorology (DGM).
Locally heavy thunderstorms with hail and gusty winds at times (25-35 mm) are expected on Friday from 1 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the provinces of Kenitra, Sale, Rabat, Larache, and Tangier-Assilah, the DGM says in an “orange” level alert.
On Saturday from 1 a.m. to 11 p.m., the same phenomenon with rainfall totals between 40 and 60 mm will affect the provinces of Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Chtouka-Ait Baha, Inezgane-Ait Melloul, Taroudant, Tiznit, Essaouira, El Jadida, Safi, and Sidi Bennour.
This also includes the provinces of Mohammadia, Benslimane, Berrechid, Settat, Chichaoua, Rehamna, Casablanca, Mediouna, Nouaceur, and Youssoufia, with rainfall varying between 20 and 40 mm.
In addition, snowfall (10-25 cm) above 1,500 meters is expected on Thursday from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the provinces of Midelt, Boulemane, Sefrou, Ifrane, Al Haouz, Azilal, Ouarzazate, Al Hoceima, Taza, Taroudant, Chichaoua, Beni Mellal, Khenifra, Guercif, and Tinghir.
They are also awaited from Saturday at 1 a.m. to Sunday at 11 p.m., with snowfall ranging from 10 to 35 cm in Azilal, Beni Mellal, Ifrane, Sefrou, Boulemane, Al Hoceima, Ouarzazate, Taroudant, Tinghir, Al Haouz, Chichaoua, Khenifra, and Midelt.
In addition, strong gusty winds ranging (75-85 km/h) are expected on Saturday from 1 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the provinces of Safi, Chichaoua, Sidi Bennour, Essaouira, and El Jadida.
Finally, cold weather (-7/-3°C) is expected from Thursday to Sunday in the provinces of Midelt, Boulemane, Tinghir, Azilal, Chichaoua, Ouarzazate, Al Haouz, Taroudant, and Ifrane.
